Letter from the Editor
I am excited to introduce the Spring Issue of the IACFS/ME Bulletin, published as we are about to come together for the next IACFS/ME International Conference in Reno from March 12th to 16th of this year.
We are proud that the Bulletin is attracting more and more publications from international authors. The current edition includes articles from fatigue researchers in Great Britain, Dr. Luis Nacul, and Belgium, Dr. Elke Van Hoof. In his article, Dr. Nacul and his co-authors are evaluating credible scientific evidence available to examine the notion that CFS/ME might be associated with chemical exposures. In her article, Dr. Van Hoof and her international team of collaborators assessed how adolescents with CFS/ME perceive and experience their social environment. The authors suggest ways in which the negative impact of these perceptions and experiences might be addressed.
Under the leadership of Dr. Nancy Klimas, President of IACFS/ME, and strongly supported by her executive board team members, the internationalization of the IACFS/ME is moving forward in leaps and bounds. Strong collaborations have already been forged with our colleagues studying fatigue in Japan, Australia, Norway, Great Britain, Belgium, and The Netherlands and we are expecting to aggressively pursue interaction with many other countries in Europe and elsewhere in our pursuit to understand fatigue as it occurs in CFS/ME, but also as a consequence of normal living or other health conditions including cancer, cardiovascular disease, multiple sclerosis, and HIV/AIDS.
We hope to meet with many of our readers face to face in Reno!
Sincerely,
Gudrun Lange, PhD
Editor
